TAOIST TAI CHI™ CLASSES TO BEGIN IN RACINE

RACINE (September 13, 2009) – The Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA will begin offering classes in tai chi chuan at the DeKoven Center in Racine September 28 and 30.

Classes will be held Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Center, 600 21st Street, Racine. (Enter on Wisconsin Ave).

Students may attend one or both classes each week in Racine and take additional classes at our locations in Chicago and its suburbs for no additional charge.

Beginner classes last about four months, during which students learn the complete sequence of the Taoist Tai ChiTM set. After that, students take continuing classes to deepen their practice of tai chi chuan.

The Taoist Tai Chi Society® internal arts of health incorporate stretching and turning within a sequence of movements that improve the health of body, mind and spirit. Diligent practice of tai chi chuan can reduce tension, improve circulation and balance and increase strength and flexibility.

Visitors are always welcome. Prospective students can attend their first class at no obligation. Wear loose, comfortable close and gym shoes without much tread. New member fee packages and senior or family rates are available.

The International Taoist Tai Chi Society is a charitable organization with more than 500 branches in 28 countries and 29 states. All instructors are nationally accredited volunteers.
Jelena Berenc : Marking a Life conceptual art exhibit
Nov. 2
Communication Arts Gallery - UW-Parkside, The University of Wisconsin – Parkside is pleased to announce the “Jelena Berenc: marking a life” conceptual art exhibit on display from October 26th through November 24th.

Jelena Berenc received her MFA in Painting and Drawing from the Art Institute of Chicago. She describes her current portfolio as a study and documentation of existence. “My artwork is based on durational, repetitional, excessive and endurance drawings. This somewhat compulsive obsessiveness of excessive drawing of quantities or gestures becomes a document of time and the drawing’s creation; it becomes a document of experience itself.”

Please join us for the opening reception, Monday, October 26th from 5-7pm in the Communication Arts Gallery. Admission is free. Please see the Art Department website for more information (www.uwp.edu/departments/art/).
