Advisory: Heavy snow conditions predicted for Kenosha, Illinois border
BY KENOSHA NEWS STAFF
A winter weather advisory is in effect Thursday afternoon until midnight for Kenosha County and counties in Southeast Wisconsin, according to the National Weather Service in Sullivan, Wis.
Snow is expected to become heavier later with the heaviest snowfall from 5 to 10 p.m. Average accumulations will be 2 to 4 inches with locally heavier snowfall up to 5 inches from Interstate 94 and the Illinois border. Winds will be from the west from 5 to 10 mph, with brief gusts from 15 to 20 mph possible. National Weather Service forecasters predict traffic during the rush hour in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha counties will likely be snarled with snow-covered and slippery conditions.
Visibility will be reduced to a half mile or less at times, with minor drifting snow along north-south roads in open and rural areas. The winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties and drivers should use caution.
