Bradford boys v-ball sees solid season come to an end
The Bradford boys volleyball team ended its finest season in school history in losing to host Franklin, 25-23, 17-25, 26-28, 26-24, 15-10 in a Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association sectional semifinal.
“We needed a few breaks to go our way and it just didn’t happen,” Bradford coach Marla Day said. “It was a tough way to end, especially with such a hard-fought battle.”
Brett Kaczmarek and Kris Sexton each finished with 27 kills and four blocks in their final high school match. Joey Stella had 59 assists, 21 service points and three aces, while Dustin Day tallied 27 service points, 16 digs and five aces. Paul Karabiac had 11 blocks and four kills.
With the match tied 5-5 in the final game, Bradford committed four straight errors and never recovered. The Red Devils (18-8-4) lost for the third time in four matches against the Sabres this season.
“Even though we came up on the losing end, I thought we showed we have more strength,” Day said. “I thought we did extremely well. We just couldn’t finish them off.”
