It’s election time, again.

Today is the day candidates for spring races may begin circulating nomination papers.

The election is April 6, with primaries Feb. 16 where needed.

The race for county executive will lead Kenosha County ballots, though, to date, no candidates have announced intentions to challenge incumbent Jim Kreuser.

Plenty of other races are on tap, including contests in each of the County Board’s 28 districts and all 17 seats on the Kenosha City Council.

That’s not to mention available seats on scores of town, village and school boards across the county.

The spring election cycle in Bristol is complicated by the recent creation of a village of Bristol.

The community is awaiting a certificate of incorporation from the state. Once that arrives, the community will have 40 to 50 days to hold a special election to create a new Village Board.

Until the certification arrives, the date for that election cannot be set, but the timeline set out by the statute is unlikely to allow that to be held at the same time as the regular spring election.
