More than four years after he disappeared, police are still searching for a Delavan man who allegedly shot his son-in-law at least four times in Lake Geneva.

Francisco Sandoval, 56, reportedly shot Alberto Manriquez-Soto, 24, of Lake Geneva, because of a domestic disturbance involving Sandoval’s daughter in October 2005. Manriquez-Soto survived and Sandoval was charged for attempted homicide.

According to a criminal complaint, Sandoval’s then-14-year-old son said his father shot Manriquez-Soto because Manriquez-Soto threatened to burn down the family’s home. He made the threat during a domestic disturbance with Sandoval’s daughter.

Sandoval’s son said he was bringing his father a Coke when he saw Sandoval approach Manriquez-Soto with a gun. The incident happened about 6:40 p.m. Oct. 2, 2005, outside a business in the 800 block of Williams Street.

The boy said he saw Manriquez-Soto drive past the business, then saw his father go toward the car with a gun. Sandoval then reportedly shot his son-in-law through the passenger-side window.

Manriquez-Soto’s car reportedly rolled about a block, until it hit a parked car.

He was found shot in the right temple and right side of his neck. He also had gunshot wounds in his shoulder and a finger.

Another witness also saw the shooting, police said.

Sandoval reportedly left the scene in a 1996 green Dodge Caravan with Wisconsin license plate TSK-302. Police searched his home that night, but did not find him.

If arrested and convicted, Sandoval faces 40 years in prison.

Man still wanted

It has been more than three years since authorities filed an arrest warrant for a Kenosha man charged for attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a woman eight times.

Teodulo Bautista, 32, is still wanted, court records show. If arrested and convicted, Bautista could be sentenced to more than 50 years in prison.

He was charged in November 2006 after reportedly attacking Amelia Cruz after a family celebration. Cruz said Bautista demanded sex. When Cruz said no, she said he attacked her with a knife.

She suffered an estimated eight stab wounds, including a five-inch wide puncture wound in her chest, as well as a two-inch wide gash in her leg. She also had stab wounds on her hips, forearms and hands but survived.

Bautista, who had at least nine aliases, was convicted for beating Cruz in 2004. He was deported after that incident and was apparently in the country illegally at the time of the stabbing.

Bautista apparently fled the area before two of Cruz’s sons and their cousin broke into Bautista’s mother’s home looking for him. The young men searched for Bautista after they found Cruz stabbed in her kitchen.

Those young men were convicted and sentenced for their crimes.

Anyone with information about Bautista should call the Kenosha Police Department Detective Bureau at 262-605-5203. People also could call Kenosha Area CrimeStoppers at 262-656-7333 or 800-807-TIPS. Callers can be anonymous. A reward is possible.
