Board of Regents confirms Ford as UW-P chancellor
The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents has confirmed Deborah Ford as the chancellor of Parkside.
Ford, currently the vice president of student affairs from the University of West Florida, will take over her new duties no later than Aug. 1.
Her salary will be $199,500, but with the 3 percent state furlough currently in place, it will be $193,515, David Giroux, a UW System spokesman, said after Friday’s Regents’ vote.
In addition to her yearly salary, UW will pay her moving expenses, allow her and her family to live in the chancellor’s residence at Parkside, and provide a state-leased vehicle for official business.
Ford replaces Lane Earns, who has been the interim chancellor since Jack Keating retired last year.
President Kevin Reilly and a selection committee earlier chose her for the position but it had to be confirmed by the full board of regents.
She was lauded as one of the more popular finalists during the community forum visits because of her energy and enthusiasm.
“I am thrilled, and I actually felt very good about all the interactions with the different constituencies,” she told the Kenosha News last month. “I think one of the things I do and bring to the position is I’m willing to listen, and we can learn and grow together. Certainly I have a lot of student affairs experience, but I’ve also been involved in teaching and research, I’ve engaged in those same activities (as faculty), and I appreciate their hard work.”
Ford is married and has two children: Abby, 14, and John David, 11.
