The case will continue against a Kenosha woman accused of stealing more than $70,000 from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

There is enough evidence to continue the case against Susan A. Bushweiler, a court commissioner concluded Wednesday. Another hearing is next month.

Bushweiler, 56, is charged with theft and misconduct in public office, both felonies. If convicted, she could be sentenced to 20 years in prison and fined up to $20,000. She is out of jail on a signature bond.

Bushweiler was responsible for collecting and depositing money from machines that take cash, then converting it into credits on UW-Parkside Ranger identification cards. The credits can then be used to buy items and services on campus.

School officials began to track collections in June 2007, after $10,345 was reported missing for the fiscal year. A report showed that money was collected but not deposited a total of 26 times.

An audit reviewed transactions going back to 2001. It found money had been taken but not deposited 152 times, starting in fiscal year 2002.

Bushweiler retired in 2007. Parkside has since changed its Ranger Card money collection system.
