Census plans to begin tests next week
The U.S. Census Bureau will conduct testing throughout Kenosha County starting next week, in search of part-time workers to assist with the 2010 Census.
Jobs to be filled include census takers, crew leaders, crew leader assistants, recruiting assistants and census clerks. The positions are temporary; most work will begin at the beginning of next year.
Work schedules will vary between 20 and 40 hours per week, depending on employees’ availability. Hours are flexible, including evenings and weekends. Many positions pay roughly $14 per hour.
Applicants must take a 28-question, 30-minute test to measure abilities such as clerical, reading, number and organizational skills.
Testing sites will be located across the county. The largest site, the Kenosha County Center on highways 45 and 50, will hold tests at the following times:
n Nov. 23, 9 a.m. and noon.n Dec. 17, 6 p.m.n Dec. 21, 9 a.m. and noon.n Dec. 28, 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m.Walk-ins are welcome until capacity is reached. For specific dates and times for other locations, and to reserve a spot, call 866-861-2010.
Participants must bring two forms of identification, including a driver’s license, birth certificate, state identification card, Social Security card or passport.
