Each orientation meeting will provide background information about Habitat for Humanity and the criteria used to select a recipient of a Habitat home. Attendance at one of the meetings is required in order to receive an application and to be eligible for selection.

To be eligible, an applicant’s income may not exceed $29,820 for a one-person household up to a limit of $59,280 for an eight-person household.

The selected applicant must perform at least 300 hours of sweat equity work by assisting with construction of Habitat homes and by attending workshops and seminars regarding home financing, home maintenance and financial literacy.

Upon completion of the house, Habitat will sell the home to the selected applicant. The homeowner will then be required to repay an interest-free mortgage loan to Habitat for the cost of the house. The selected applicant must also contribute toward closing costs.

The group also is seeking volunteers and donors. For more information, call 925-0360, email family.kenosha@gmail.com, or visit the office at 6203 28th Ave.
