A 24-year-old Kenosha man was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Thursday.

John E. Rukstales, of Kenosha, was killed after his Chevrolet Lumina struck a Ford F-450 truck on Highway K, east of 144th Avenue around 12:53 p.m. Thursday, according to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.

His car was first reported as travelling recklessly, moving all over the roadway, eastbound on Highway K east of Highway 45.

Rukstales’ car then was observed to cross the center line and sideswipe a westbound Ford Escort just east of 144th Avenue.

Rukstales’ Lumina then veered head-on into a westbound Ford F-450.

Rukstales had to be extricated from his car by fire and rescue personnel from Bristol and Paris. He was then taken by the Flight For Life helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa for further treatment.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital after his arrival there

Early indications show that Rukstales may have been impaired by some form of intoxicant while he was driving..

The driver of the truck suffered a minor foot injury and the Escort driver was not injured.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate the crash.
