An Illinois woman has been charged for allegedly stalking a woman who adopted her parrot.
Wendy N. Grabell, 64, of Wheeling, Ill., is charged with felony stalking for being seen lurking outside of the residence of a Kenosha woman multiple times from September 2013 to October 2017.
According to the criminal complaint in the case, filed Monday, the alleged stalking began five or six years ago, when the Kenosha woman adopted a parrot, named “Snoopy,” from a wildlife refuge where she volunteers.
After adopting Snoopy, Grabell, the bird’s former owner, became “obsessed” with the woman and Snoopy, the complaint indicates.
Grabell had given up the parrot to the rescue organization, according to court documenets.
Grabell appeared in court with an attorney Thursday. She had been charged in April and a warrant for her arrest issued.
She posted $1,000 bond in July, and made a voluntary initial appearance in court Thursday. Her bond was continued with the stipulation that she stay away from Snoopy’s owner.
She will next appear in court in October.
