Miss Wisconsin Laura Kaeppeler made an appearance at the Kenosha Boys and Girls Club Saturday.

The St. Joseph High School and Carthage College graduate signed autographs and sang with the children during the visit.

Kaeppeler is preparing for the Miss American pageant, which is Jan. 14 in Las Vegas and will be shown on television by ABC.

Kaeppeler won the crown of Miss Wisconsin in June, competing at Miss Southern Wisconsin 2011. She was Miss Kenosha in 2010.

She is the third local woman in the past 10 years to compete for Miss America, following Joya Zamora in 2001 and Christina Thompson in 2008.
