Thursday, Gov. Scott Walker came to Pleasant Prairie to help announce the move of a new employer to LakeView Corporate Park.
The company, Catalyst Exhibits, of Crystal Lake, Ill., expects to bring 85 jobs here and hopes to create two dozen more by 2014. The company makes exhibits for trade shows.

The law that prohibits smoking in taverns is good for bartenders’ health.
That’s the unsurprising conclusion of a study by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Center for Urban Initiatives and Research. The project took data from 531 working bartenders before the law went into effect and again three to six months afterward.

Kenosha Unified School District officials have projected a $29 million hole in the budget for the next school year, and they are going to have to find a way to fill it without making changes in the contract with the teachers union.
The Kenosha Education Association, which represents teachers as well as other groups of workers, has refused to reopen the contract because of concerns that revisions couldn’t be finished before changes to collective bargaining laws take effect. The governor signed the changes last week, and the new law is expected to go into effect on March 25.
