An officer responded to the scene and saw, through the glass doors on the east side of the school, two men inside of the building. One man appeared to be carrying a laptop computer bag in each hand.

Both men ran down a hallway as additional officers were called to the scene to form a perimeter around the school.

The two eventually separated. Police saw one man, 18-year-old Paul H. Kreuser of Kenosha, hide behind raincoats and a storage cubby. Officers told Kreuser he was surrounded and talked to him for several minutes. The 18-year-old then appeared to have a panic attack and then run away from officers.

A school custodian brought keys to allow the officers to search the entire building. Kreuser was found shortly afterward lying on the roof of the school. A digital camera with pictures of the school and students was found with him.

Officers found the second man, Jonathan E. Saleski, 18, in the school about three hours after the initial call.

Kreuser said he had just met Saleski for the first time the day before at the Anderson Park skate park.

Both men were arrested and face charges of burglary and possession of tools used for burglary. Kreuser also faces a charge of bail jumping and had two active warrants in Racine County for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Four faculty members at the school reported items missing from their classrooms. The items included nine laptop computers and one digital camera. Four of the laptops were found in a student’s locker. Additional laptops were being sought during the day Thursday.

The two appeared to have entered the building through a wooden maintenance door on the east side of the building.

The door had marks on it and the lock was pried away from the door. The damage was estimated at $800.

A crowbar was found inside of the school, which the school’s custodian said did not belong to the school.
