Swine flu vaccine clinic will be open to all residents
After administering almost 7,500 vaccines for H1N1 virus, commonly called swine flu, to target groups in the last month, the Kenosha County Health Department announces its next vaccination clinic for the virus.
This is the first clinic that will be open to all residents. It will be 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kenosha County Job Center (Entrance B), 8600 Sheridan Road.
The Flu Mist and injectable vaccines will be provided free of charge and on a voluntary first-come, first-served basis. Clients should expect lines and should dress for winter weather conditions. Future swine flu vaccination clinics will be scheduled dependent on vaccine supply.
Children under 10 years old who received their first dose of swine flu vaccine four weeks ago will be able to receive their second dose of the vaccine at the clinic. Those children should bring their Influenza Vaccination Record Card with the date of their first H1N1 vaccine. Children must wait four weeks between doses of flu vaccine.
The Health Department is asking residents not to attend the clinic if they have a fever. People with a fever will not be allowed to enter the building. You will not receive a vaccination if you are sick.
Residents attending Kenosha County H1N1 vaccination clinics are encouraged to bring a completed H1N1 consent form with them to expedite the clinic process. The consent form can be downloaded from the Kenosha County Health Department H1N1 Web site, www.co.kenosha.wi.us/dhs/Divisions/Health/) under the link “Vaccine & Clinics.”
Children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult and must have a consent form signed by their parent or legal guardian.
Seasonal flu vaccine and childhood immunizations will not be administered at any of the H1N1 vaccination clinics.
