Theresa Moon is manager and “beertender” at Uncle Mike’s Pub, 6611 120th Ave.

The pub boasts 250 beers available in bottles and 58 beers on tap, so the servers are referred to as beertenders.

Moon has managed Uncle Mike’s Highway Pub since it opened in August, 2008.

Q: Do you like beer?

A: I love beer.

Q: What is your favorite beer?

A: Belgian beers. Anything Belgian, I’ll drink it.

Q: What is your favorite thing about being a beertender?

A: Turning people on to different beers.

Q: What is your least favorite thing about being a beertender?

A: You’re in beer heaven here, so people can try something new, but there’s still a group of people who don’t like the variety.

Q: How do you get familiar with so many beers?

A: We work closely with our distributors and attend many beer festivals and tastings. Our owner, Mike Cholak, is a beer guru.

Q: What best prepared you for being a beertender?

A: Educating myself about different beer styles and knowing what new beers are being brewed.

Q: What’s the most important skill in pouring a proper glass of beer?

A: Leaving a two-finger or more head on top of each serving.

Q: What beer is the most difficult to serve?

A: Our cask-conditioned beer that is served on a hand pump.

Q: What is the most popular beer style at your pub?

A: India pale ale. Our customers love them.

Q: Best advice as a beertender?

A: Learn the beer styles and try them all.
