WBBM to remain on Charter’s Walworth County lineup
Charter Communications has announced that WBBM-TV (CBS) Chicago will remain on Charter’s Walworth County channel lineup.
However, it will be shifted to the cable television company’s digital cable lineup — from Channel 7 to Channel 969, effective April 20.
Customers will require a digital receiver from Charter, or need to have a digital TV with a QAM tuner, in order to view Channel 969. Customers with a QAM tuner will need to auto program their digital TVs on April 20, in order to tune in this channel.
Charter provides cable television to Twin Lakes, Randall and Wheatland, Bloomfield, Fontana, Genoa City, Linn, Sharon, Walworth and Williams Bay.
Charter is in negotiations for renewal of the terms of its carriage of WBBM-TV with station owner CBS, a process that occurs every three years.
While terms discussed in earlier phases of negotiations would have resulted in the discontinuation of carriage of WBBM-TV, Charter and WBBM-TV have agreed to terms that enables continued WBBM carriage on Charter in the Walworth County area.
“We know that access to Chicago area news is important to our customers in Walworth County,” said Lisa Washa, vice president and general manager for Charter in Wisconsin
“It is also important to our customers to receive continued service enhancements for a reasonable price. We’ve found a way to continue to provide the valuable programming on WBBM-TV, as well as offer faster Internet speeds and more high-definition programming.”

Anything that can get people working needs to be done. Without jobs, nothing else will improve.
