1949 – 2011

Stephen D. W. Rasch, 61, passed away on Saturday afternoon Sept. 3, 2011, surrounded by his family and friends at his home in Genoa City, Wis.

He was born Dec. 17, 1949, in New Castle, Ind. He was the son of Herbert and Fanny (Fran) Rasch of Paddock Lake, Wis.

Stephen (Steve) served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as a machinery mechanic. After serving his country he returned home where he developed a passion for riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. He owned several different bikes over the years, but no matter what type of bike he always loved riding with his friends. He was an original member of the Sojourners Motorcycle Club of Lake County, Ill., where he was known as “Preacher.” He enjoyed collecting memorabilia for the club and has collected volumes of pictures, articles and artifacts.

Survivors include his parents; his beloved wife of fourteen years, Joyce (Schaefer) Rasch; two brothers, Danny Rasch of Kenosha and Rickie Rasch of Ohio; one sister, Joyce Rasch of Kenosha and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephew. Steve will also be sadly missed by his two canine companions Bubba and Meghan.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful people at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care for their warmth and support during this difficult journey. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Steve’s name to Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care or The American Cancer Society.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, Sept 24, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, US 45, half a mile south of SR 50 in Bristol at 1 p.m.
