William N. Heyns

1924 – 2011

Bill was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Jan. 18, 1924, the only son of Nicholas and Helena Heyns. His Creator called him to his Heavenly Home on Sept. 14, 2011. He cherished life and led a fascinating one. He attended Morgan Park Military Academy and served in WWII, an honored veteran.

As a youngster, he had been ill many times with pneumonia. His folks felt that it was imperative for him to live with his Uncle Rich in New Mexico for two years. Uncle Rich was an MD and a missionary and that time was spent living on an Indian Reservation amongst the Navaho and Suni Indians.

Along with his diploma, he received an Honorary 2nd Lieutenant commission in the National Guard. He attended the University of Cincinnati majoring in Applied Arts where his natural artistic abilities were further developed.

Bill came to Kenosha in 1955 and worked at the Simmons Co. having as his duties all contract sales. When Simmons left Kenosha, he worked at AMC and enjoyed a long retirement from there in a home on Lake Michigan.

He wed Bonnie Kley in October of 1969 in Las Vegas. He loved Scottish terriers, golf, gardening, Lawrence Welk and many other things. His motto was, "Give Thought" from the articles published by Sadoni. At the time of his death, he had thick, beautiful, black and gray hair.

Condolence contributions to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. Burial will be private in Union Grove.
