Judith Rafeldt

1941 – 2011

Judith Rafeldt passed into the arms of our Lord on Oct. 12, 2011, under the care of Avow Hospice in Naples, Fla.

Judi was born in Kenosha on July 19, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Bill and Dorothy (Vernezze) Swan. She was a 1959 graduate of Bradford High School.

She was employed with the U.S. Government at Great Lakes Naval Base before working in Finance Offices in Waukegan, Ill. She enjoyed several years living in Ohio and Illinois as a homemaker and starting her life as a mother to her two sons. Judi returned to Kenosha in 1971 and worked many years processing insurance accounts at Dave Kohel Insurance Agency. She then taught reading and spelling classes at St. Luke's Lutheran School for 12 years, retiring in 1998.

Judi moved to Florida in October of 2000 with her husband of 49 years, Bill Rafeldt.

Judi immediately joined Our Savior Lutheran Church, a church she visited many times during her 26 years of vacationing on Marco Island. She cherished her Christian family at Our Savior and was active in all its functions during her 11 years in Naples.

Judi is survived by her husband, Bill Rafeldt; her sons, William F. (Karen) Rafeldt of Kenosha and Richard S. (Sandra) Rafeldt of Wadsworth, Ill.; her three grandsons, Bill (Jamie) Rafeldt, Ryan Rafeldt and Andrew Rafeldt; her sister, Eileen (John) Hartnell, her Aunt, Jeanne Sauer; her namesake, Judith L. Uelman, all of Kenosha; and her Aunt, Lilian Wall of Ft. Worth, Texas. Judi is loved by her great-granddaughter, Olivia Addison Rafeldt.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 6700 30th Avenue. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery. A visitation for Judi will be held on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial remembrances to St. Luke's Women's Circle, 6700 30th Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53142, would be appreciated.
