Cheryl Reine Schmidt, 50, of Kansasville, Wis., formerly Murphysboro, Ill., passed away Sept. 20, with her sister and son at her side.

Cheryl was born Dec. 16, 1960, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Leo (Annette) Schmidt Jr. and Winifred Schmidt. Cheryl spent most of her free time making elaborate, handmade crafts. Cheryl also liked reading, was heavily involved in her church, and loved spending time with family and friends. Cheryl is survived by her son, John, mother, Winifred, siblings Leo III (Pamila), Theodore, Vincent (Kristy), Leann, and Herman (Amy) and her dog, Daisy. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Schmidt Jr.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Stonebridge Clubhouse, 650 West Rand Road, Arlington Heights, Ill. 60004. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to American Cancer Society in Cheryl’s name.
