Florence C. Bruno, 98, formerly of Kenosha, late of New Lisbon, Wis., died Saturday Oct. 15, 2011, at Crestview Nursing Home in New Lisbon after a short illness.
Florence was born on Aug. 17, 1913, the daughter of Viola Pynacker and Fred Van Etten. She moved to Kenosha as a young girl and attended local schools. In 1930, she married Michael Bruno. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Florence was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Seniors. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, reading novels, traveling and gardening. She was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Florence is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Loren) Smith of Necedah Wis., and Mary (Cosmo) Tarsitano of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; and one daughter-in- law, Nina Bruno of Sun Lakes, Ariz. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Peter M. Bruno; grandson, Michael A. Bruno; brother, Harold Van Etten, who was killed during the invasion of the Phillipines in World War II; and a stepsister, Helen Turco.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday Oct. 21, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kenosha. (7307-40th Avenue) Visitation with the family will be on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials, to St. Mary Catholic Church would be appreciated.
