Ruth Claire Franz, 71, of Camp Lake, Wis., passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at her home, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. She was born Oct. 12, 1940, in Harrellsville, N.C., the daughter of the late W. Thomas and Dixie (White) Jones. On July 14, 1961 she married Glenn E. Franz in Harrellsville, NC and they moved to Camp Lake, Wis. Until her retirement in 2000, Ruth was fulfilled by her work at Lakeland Nursing Home, Elkhorn, WI for 27 years. In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed collecting antiques, attending rendezvous throughout Wisconsin, and playing with her dogs: Sneakers and Oscar.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years, Glenn; two children, Cheryl Olson of Green Forest, Ark., and Barry (Benji) Franz of Ahoskie, N.C.; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Krystal) Frantz, Jennifer Olson, David Olson, and Jesse Franz; one great-granddaughter, Autumn Olson; and many other friends and relatives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William "Bill" Jones Jr.
Ruth was a very loving mother and grandmother who was known by her family to be selfless and caring. She was always willing to put her family above herself and eager to go the extra step to ensure her children and grandchildren were taken care of. She will always be loved and truly missed.
A celebration of Ruth's life will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL 60002.
