A. Allan Jankus

1917 – 2011

A. Allan Jankus, 93, of Kenosha passed away, Thursday, Oct. 20, at his residence.

Born in Milwaukee, Wis., on Dec. 16, 1917, the son of the late Adam, and Anna (Banza) Jankus. His family moved to Kenosha when he was a child. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

On Feb. 14, 1942, at the Chapel at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee he married Isabel E. Mattern. She passed away July 20, 2006.

Allan was an Engineer, also, a President and Chairman of the Board for Kenosha Boiler and and Structural Co. now known as Lakeside Steel Mfg., a family business until his retirement in 1991.

A member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church and many other local organizations.

Surviving are four nieces and nephews, Bernadette (Tim) Longden of Racine, Jeannette (Dennis) Kehoe of Kenosha, Charles (Karen) Southerland and Nancy Southerland both of Virginia; seven great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Florence Nihlson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 23, at Proko Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Funeral services and interment will be private.
