Steven E. Carlson

1958 – 2012

Steven E. Carlson, 53, of Mt. Pleasant, Wis., died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at his residence. Steven was born June 13, 1958, in Yale, Mich., the son of Carl and Anne M. Sicken Carlson. United in marriage to Lynn M. Goode Sept. 22, 2007, in Mt. Pleasant.

Member of the GTO Club, and employed at U.W. Parkside as a risk manager.

Surviving is his wife, Lynn. He was OPA to his grandchildren, Dylan, Faith and Hope Van Ruden; sisters, Sharon (Michael) Anton, Nancy Ramsey, Regina (Kenneth) Howell and Joanne (Michael) Palulchek; brothers, Daniel Carlson and Nathan Carlson. Godfather to Branden Greetham; big brother to Bob Pluess. Several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret Reutter and a brother, John Carlson.

Steven was born in Yale, Mich., and lived with his family in Armada, Mich., until his family moved to Wisconsin in 1962. The family moved to Wheatland, Wis., in 1969 where Steven attended and graduated from Central High School. He obtained his bachelors degree in Industrial Hygiene from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 1980 and his graduate degree in business management from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1986. Steven was currently employed as safety officer by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside after a number of years with private sector companies.

He had a passion for Pontiac GTO’s; lovingly restoring and showing a 1965 and a 1967 GTO. He was also interested in prairie restoration and volunteered many hours to local restoration projects including creating a prairie restoration at his home.

A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at St. Alfhonsus Catholic Church, New Munster, Wis. Visitation will be held at time of services.
