Robert "Bob" Quardokus, 87, of Kenosha, Wis., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wis.
Born in Kenosha, on Jan. 11, 1925, he was the son of the late Herman and Anna (Rothbarth) Quardokus. A life long resident of Kenosha, he graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School.
He served in World War II in the 102nd Cavalry Reconnaissance squadron mechanized and has been a lifelong member of the VFW. Bob's life was guided with love and in January 1946 married Irene Frederick. The two enjoyed 46 years of marriage during which they raised three daughters, Ann, Mary and Ellen and a son, John and were partners in life, love and laughter.
He was employed as a supervisor for 33 years at American Motors and retired in 1979. He enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and watching wildlife. Since childhood, he was an avid stamp collector and loved reading books and magazines and watching television and tinkering with the latest gadgets.
Bob is survived by his son, John (Sue) Quardokus of Kenosha; and his daughters, Ellen (Barry) Quardokus of Bloomington, Ind., and Mary (Gary) Wollert of Kenosha; sister-in-law, Eleanor Quardokus; brother-in-law, Joe Mangan; son-in-law, Jerry Axtell; seven grandchildren, Joseph (Marcy) Axtell, Amy (Rich) Lucas and Wendy Axtell, Tina (Paul) Pfieffer, Lisa (Rob) Hunt, and Gina (Mike) Reeves, Courtney Wollert and 19 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Irene; daughter, Ann; mother, Anna and father, Herman; sisters, Marian (Harvey) Robbins and Betty Mangan and brothers, Roy and Jerry Quardokus and daughter-in-law, Dorothy J. Quardokus.
Visitation will be at Bruch Funeral Home, 3503 Roosevelt Road Kenosha, Wisconsin 53142 on Monday, Feb. 20, from 11 a.m. to time of service, services will be at 1 p.m. followed by a burial at Sunset Ridge Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the charity of one's choice in Bob's memory.
