Elizabeth “Betty” Munro Starr

1916 – 2012

Elizabeth “Betty” Munro Starr, 95, formerly of Kenosha, late of Stoughton, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 26, 2012, at Nazareth Health & Rehab Center.

She was born on Oct. 1, 1916, to the late Hector and Agnes (Carr) Munro in Larkhall, Scotland. Betty lived in Scotland until 1923, when at the age of seven, she, her mother and sister, Martha immigrated to Kenosha to join her father.

On Nov. 26, 1936, she married Lyman W. Starr. He preceded her in death in May of 1982.

Betty worked as a waitress and hostess in various Kenosha restaurants, Krok’s and the Elk’s Club. Betty obtained her U.S. Citizenship in October of 1965. She lived in Kenosha until 2005 when she moved to Nazareth House in Stoughton.

Betty was an avid reader, enjoyed watching TV, crossword puzzles and playing cards.

Betty is survived by her son, David M. (Pam) Starr of Stoughton; her sister, Martha Germinaro of Kenosha; her grandchildren, Pam (David) Keith of Roswell, N.M., Paul (Diane) Starr of Rockford, Ill., Jeffrey A. (Phyllis) Starr of Grafton, Wis., Lorna Kucik of Kenosha and Jeffrey W. (Michelle) Starr of West DesMoines, Iowa, and her nine great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her son, Lyman J. “Jack” Starr Jr., and two sisters, Margaret Priddis in 1957 and Agnes Munro in 1922.

Funeral services for Betty will be held on Monday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Agrace Hospice Care, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711 or to the Nazareth Health and Rehab Center 814 Jackson Street, Stoughton, WI 53589.

The family would like to thank the caregivers from Agrace Hospice Care, Madison and Nazareth Health & Rehab Center, Stoughton for their wonderful care and compassion
