Chester Abbs Boyington
1920 -- 2009

Chester Abbs Boyington, 88, of Ruskin, Fla., passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at Manatee Hospital, Bradenton, Fla. He was a former resident of Bristol, Wis. before retiring in 1980 and moving to Ruskin, Fla.

Chester was born Oct. 27, 1920, the son of Alfred and Myrtle Boyington. He attended Bristol Grade School and Wilmot High School. He married Dorothy Haile on July 11, 1942.

He was AMM 3rd Class U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.

He worked at Dynamatic- Eaton Corp. as a welder for 30 years and as a Kenosha County tax assessor for ten years.

He was a Green Bay Packer fan, loved to cruise, and rose gardening. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Bristol; Moose, VFW and Eagles of Ruskin, Fla., and served on the Bristol Town Board in the 1970’s. He was very proud of his World War II service and recently placed a legacy stone at the Nielsville, Wis. Veteran’s Memorial Park “The Highground”.

He is survived by his companion, Helen Walker; children, Brian (Nancy) Boyington, Richard Boyington, Betty (Charles) Ogren, Elaine (Tom) Rains; granchildren, Scott Boyington, Steve Boyington, Mike Gorr, Troy Boyington, Jeff Ogren, Kelly Billingsley, Heather Hardy and Tara Rains; great-grandchildren, Tyler Boyington, Lauren Darby, Justin Gorr, Austin Hardy, Kyle Hardy, Jenna Boyington, Jake Billingsley, Allie Billingsley, Grayson Ogren, and Antonia Hardy; sisters, Isabelle Boyington, Patricia (Roy) Piersdorf; brother, Harold (Marilyn) Boyington.

He was preceded in death, by his parents, Alfred and Myrtle Boyinton; wife, Dorothy in 1988; sisters, Louise (Peter) Hansen and one in infancy.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Park in Union Grove, with Cliff Cameron officiating. Private interment, Sunset Ridge for family only.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Chester will be most remembered for his love of family.
