Marion M. Makouske, 87, of Kenosha, died on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Brookside Care Center.

Born on Nov. 3, 1921, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Benuska) Halmo. She attended local schools.
Marion entered the U.S. Coast Guard on March 9, 1943, as an Apprentice Seaman and was honorably discharged on Nov. 24, 1945, as Yeoman First Class.
On Nov. 25, 1948, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Wilbert R. Makouske. They were blessed with four wonderful children. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2007.
Marion was a loving, caring wife, mother and homemaker.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and their Rosary Society. Marion had a heart bigger than life itself. She will always be remembered for her devotion and care she gave to those she loved.
She is survived by her four children, Diane (Franz) Vigansky, John (Laura) Makouske, James (Donna) Makouske and Thomas (Nancy) Makouske; a brother, Louis Halmo; a sister, Betty Halmo; 15 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Fr. John Halmo; and three sisters, Ida Hornacek, Ellen Paulauskas and Margaret Halmo.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 2223 51st Street. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for Mass. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105, would be appreciated by the family.
Marion's family would like to acknowledge and thank all the caring staff at Regent Manor and Brookside Care Center in Kenosha.
