Gerald Groleau
1925 - 2009

Gerald Groleau, 84 of Bristol, Wis., arrived at his heavenly home on Sunday morning, Nov. 1, 2009.

Gerald Groleau was born Jan 14, 1925, to the late Theodore and Evelyn Groleau in Iron Mountain, Mich.

Those looking to be re-united someday include his wife of 59 years, Penny Groleau; and their four children, David M. (Brenda) Groleau of Antioch, Ill., Mary Jane (Mark) James of Salem, Wis., Mark S. Groleau of Kenosha, Wis., Thomas G. (Sally) Groleau of Salem, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Dustin (Julie) James, James Groleau, Kelly (Rob) Piccolo, Philip (Kim) Groleau, Amy (Doug) Warren, Joseph and Jonathan Groleau; and six great grandchildren.

Jerry was raised in Iron Mountain, losing his father at age four and mother at age 12, living with his grandfather until 1942, when at age 17 he joined the Navy. He served in WW II and again in Korea.

He married Virginia "Penny" Pennington on Oct. 28, 1950, and raised their family in Winthrop Harbor, Ill.

As a successful insurance and real estate broker for 29 years, he also served as a Village Trustee, President of the Lions Club, Moose Lodge member, Chamber of Commerce, Cub Scout Master and church activities. Jerry was an excellent "handy man" always building and fixing something and loved adventures with his wife and family, especially camping and boating.

Into retirement he lived five years in Florida, relocating in Bristol, Wis. for greater involvement with his extended family. He had served as Chaplain and as an Officer with the Antioch VFW Post. He was very active with CrossView Church, also of Antioch.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at CrossView Church, 750 Highview Drive, Antioch, IL 60002, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and an open luncheon at noon.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the CrossView Church are appreciated.
