Sylbia Chitwood Dickman, 80, of 12265 Martinsville Hwy. #32, Danville, Va., died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/Henry County.
She was born on Dec. 27, 1928, in Coalgood, Kent., to the late Romie Lee Chitwood and Ethel White Chitwood. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Dickman and two sisters, Nora Jean Chitwood McLean and Mattie Chitwood McQuay.
Mrs. Dickman was a member of Mary Helen Methodist Church, Coalgood, Kentucky and graduated from Knoxville Business School with a two year degree. She was a devoted housewife and mother.
Surviving are her daughter, Deborah Soldan of Gieneva, Ill.; three sons, Clinton Dickman, Jr. of Racine, Wis., Philip Dickman of Wasilla, Alaska and Timothy Dickman of Big Lake, Alaska; three sisters, Ida Faye Chitwood Wheelhouse of Chesapeake, Va., Jimmie Chitwood Wrightstone of Danville, Va., and Sue Chitwood Bissotti of Maysville, Kent.; one brother, Romie Lee Chitwood of Chesterfield, Va., and seven grandchildren, Catherine Dickman, Tracey Dickman, Eric Dickman, Samantha Dickman, Lorie Miller, Ryan Miller and Adam Miller.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at Norris Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Gary Robertson officiating.
