DeWitt “Sonny” Becker

1935 - 2008

DeWitt “Sonny” Becker, 73, of Sparta, Wis., was reunited with his wife, Beverly, in heaven Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008.

He was born on Sept. 25, 1935, to Eldor and Inez (Hodgkins) Becker. He grew up in the Burns area. After school, he helped his father haul milk for Pet Milk. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from December 1952 until November 1955. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.

Sonny married Beverly Brabant on June 26, 1960, in Sparta. He worked for Rambler Chrysler in Kenosha, and lived in Racine until he retired in 1988. They then moved to Sparta. Sonny was very involved with New Life Assembly of God Church in Sparta and in Union Grove. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Sonny is survived by his daughters, Diana Bellaire of Sparta, and Bonnie (Steven) Miller of Pleasant Prairie; a son, Randy (Traci) Becker of Union Grove; grandsons, Charles Bellaire of Sparta, Dustin Becker of Union Grove, and Adam Miller of Pleasant Prairie; a brother, Levi (Kathy) Becker of Belvidere, Ill.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly, on April 24, 1999; a sister, Ilene VanKirk; and a grandson, Joshua Adam Miller.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, with Reverend Randy Williamson officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by VFW Post 2112 will be in Farmers Valley Cemetery, rural Sparta. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 31, from 9 a.m. until time of services.
