Irving Leo Johnson
1916 -- 2009
Pastor Irving L. Johnson, 92, of Kenosha, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Woodstock Nursing Home.
Born July 6, 1916, in Wren, Ohio, he was the son of John and Pearl (Harker) Johnson. He was educated in the schools of Wren, Ohio and was a Graduate of Moody Bible Institute and Trinity College in Chicago, Ill.
On June 21, 1941, Irving married LaVerne Fechner in Chicago, Ill., and spent over 67 years together serving the Lord.
Pastor Johnson served as Pastor to Lydia Children's Home, Chicago, Ill., 1st Congregational Church, Yampa, Colorado, Evanston Free Church, Evanston, Ill., Rice Lake Evangelical Free Church, Rice Lake, Wis., and most recently He served at Northside Bible Church here in Kenosha.
He enjoyed woodworking, flowers and working in his garden.
Left to cherish the memory of Irving is his wife; son, David I. Johnson of Okemas, Mich.;two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Darran Gilbert Johnson; two brothers, Zearl and Kenneth; and one sister, Zelma.
Visitation for Pastor Johnson will be Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Northside Bible Church (1600-37th Street) from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a service to follow at 6:30 p.m.
