Mae A. Scherr

1926 - 2009

Mae A. Scherr, 82, of Kenosha, died on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at her residence.

Born on April 29, 1926, in Marshfield, Wis., she was the daughter of the late Emil and Susan (Breseman) Hein.

On July 7, 1948, in Milwaukee, Wis., she was married to LaVern Scherr.In 1950, they moved to Kenosha and started their family.LaVern preceded her in death on July 14, 1993.

Mae was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.She found gratification in volunteering her time at the Shalom Center and Meals on Wheels.Mae enjoyed cooking, bowling, needlepoint, reading, crossword puzzles and playing cards with her family and friends.Being an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan, she cheered them on whenever she could.Mae always looked forward to spending time with her family; especially attending her grandchildren's sporting, music and other events.She will be remembered for her love of family, great smile and sense of humor.

She is survived by her two children, Michael (Susan) Scherr of Pleasant Prairie and Sandra Scherr of Kenosha; her two loving grandchildren, Chad (Courtney) Scherr of West LaFayette, Ind., and Jennifer Scherr of Stevens Point, Wis.; her brother, Dwayne (Betty) Hein of Adams, Wis.; and her special friend, Candy Eisenhauer of Kenosha.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Donald, Norman and her twin, Maynard Hein at birth; and five sisters, Margaret Ably, Marion Douglas, Ruth Larson, Genevieve Schiesl and Betty Shupe.

A memorial service in celebration of Mae's life will be held today, Feb. 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7104 - 39th Ave.A gathering of relatives and friends will be hosted today from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or Hospice Alliance, Inc., 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI53158 would be appreciated by the family.
