Raymond Charles Matejka

Raymond Charles Matejka, our special brother, was born on Feb. 4, 1949, in Oak Park Ill., to Rudolph and Ella (nee: Peterka) Matejka.Raymond entered this world with Down Syndrome.His blue eyes sparkled with joy and he wanted to hug everyone he met.

He cared about all animals and loved all his dogs to the end.He was always rooting for the Chicago Cubs and met many players at spring training in Mesa, Ariz.He loved the Beatles and knew every word of every song they sang.

In 1971 Ray moved to Phoenix, Ariz., with his parents.In 2006 he was moved to Wisconsin to be closer to his sisters.

On Christmas morning, Dec 25, 2008, he left this life at the Aurora Medical Center in Burlington, Wis. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and his loving brother, Fred A. Koeka.

He leaves behind to miss him, his sisters, Judith C. (Ray)Thomas of Salem,Ruth Ann (Joseph)Petrik of Clarendon Hills, Ill., and Marjorie K. Coari of Paddock Lake; and his last dog, Postey Ann.He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Williams officiating.Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery.Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
