Sallie Mae Jenkins
1926 -- 2009
Sallie Mae Jenkins,82, of Kenosha, was called home to be with her Savior Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009.
Born on Nov. 25, 1926, in Starkville, Miss., Sallie Mae was the daughter of the late Wieley and Donna (Johnson) Turner.She attended Starkville schools.
In 1946, Sallie Mae married Henry Jenkins, who preceded her in death in 2006.She wasblessed with twelve children,Betty Taylor of Racine, Henry Jenkins, Jr. of Kenosha; Lawrence (Deborah) Jenkins of St. Louis, Mo., Arthur Lee Jenkins of Tyler, Texas, Bill (Helen) Jenkins of Racine, Donnell Jenkins, Debra Brantley; Cellestine Gillispie, Jeff Jenkins, Kelvin (Kimberly) Jenkins, Ronnie (Trish) Jenkins all of Kenosha and Chaisa Jenkins of Metairie, La.Also left to comfort one another with her memory are 33 beloved grandchildren and 33 adored great-grandchildren; her sisters, Pearl Harris of Starkville, Miss., and Dottsie Tyler of Kenosha; her brother, Wieley (Amanda) Turner of Tucson, Ariz., and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her dearest love of 46 years, Carolina "Cal" Jordan.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sallie Mae's three sons, John Douglas Jenkins, Kenneth Wayne Jenkins, Melvin James Jenkins; and two brothers, Booker T. Turner and John D. Turner are waiting to welcome Sallie Mae home in Heaven.
Sallie Mae loved her family and spending time with them. Among her most treasured memories were family cookouts, driving around, and visiting family at their homes.She always looked forward to annual family reunions in Starkville, Miss., where the whole family gathered together for two weeks to celebrate the Fourth of July. She also enjoyed shopping, especially at The Boston Store.
A visitation for Sallie Mae will be hosted on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home from 1 - 3 p.m. Funeral services and interment will take place in Starkville, Miss., on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to the family would be appreciated.
