Vincent B. Klemko
1919 - 2008
Vincent B. Klemko, 89, of Kenosha, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at United Hospital Systems - Kenosha campus with his loving family by his side.
Born on May 20, 1919, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Janisonis) Klemko. He was the third oldest of four siblings. Vincent was educated in local schools, including St. Peter's Elementary School, Washington Junior High School and was a graduate of Kenosha High School.
On Oct. 17, 1942, in Kenosha, he was united in marriage to Virginia Manupella at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church.
For 44 years, Vincent was employed with Jockey International. For many years, Virginia and Vincent lived out in western Kenosha County on Bunker Hill where they were members of St. John's Catholic Church in Paris Township. Upon their return to Kenosha, they became members of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Together, they were also members of the National Council of Senior Citizens and the Jockey Retiree's Club.
An avid hunter and a member of the original Bristol Conservation Club, he loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing, fishing and pheasant and deer hunting. Playing cards with his friends and traveling with his family also brought him great joy. Vincent was also involved with the Lakeland Little League for 10 years and was a big Brewer fan. Most of all, he loved the time he spent attending his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's events.
Vincent was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.His memory will forever be cherished in his family's hearts and minds. He will be missed by many including his wife of 66 years, Virginia; their six children, Vince (Nancy) Klemko, of Waterford, Wis., Greg Klemko, of Fontana, Wis., Janet (Bjarne) Wichmann of Saginaw, Mich., Jeff (Patty) Klemko of Willard, Mo., Nancy Miller of LaCrescent, Minn., and Thomas Klemko of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Brian Klemko, Kathy Gordon, Ryan Klemko, Jette and Steen Wichmann, Justin and Jason Miller; five great grandchildren, Abigail and Alyssa Klemko and Quinton, Logan and Taylor Gordon.
In addition to his parents, Vincent was preceded in death by a brother, John Klemko, and a sister, Catherine Klemens.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 2224 30th Ave. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Paris. A visitation for Vincent will be hosted from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider memorial remembrances to St. Peter's Catholic Church.
