Carol Jean (Chinn) Zimmerman

1938 - 2008

Carol Zimmerman, 69, of Nuevo, Calif., died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City, Calif.

Carol was born on Dec. 25, 1938, in Antioch, Ill., the daughter of the late Lester and Carolyn Chinn.

Carol was educated in the schools of Antioch, Ill. She married the late Paul R. Zimmerman in Waukegan, Ill., in 1965. Carol was devoted, loving and selfless in her relationship with her family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Ray Smith and Eric Zimmerman; her daughters, Paula Sanders and Patricia Zimmerman; her brothers, Raymond Chinn, Steven Chinn, Royce Chinn and Kevin Chinn; her sisters, Darlene Harrison and Dawn Beitzel and her grandchildren, Keely and Keenan Sanders and Ryan Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A memorial service will be held on July 12, 2008, at Pioneer Baptist Church, 11717 Pioneer Blvd., Norwalk, Calif., 90650 at 10 a.m.

Celia B. Pierson

The memorial service for Celia B. Pierson, who passed away in Arizona on Feb. 22, 2008, will be held at noon on Sunday July 6, 2008, at the Unity Church of Kenosha and Racine, 9220 - 26th Ave., Kenosha WI.




Gregory J. “Greg” Klen

1960 - 2008

Gregory J. "Greg" Klen, 48, of Beloit, Wis., died, Friday, June 27, 2008, at his residence.

Greg was born Feb. 9, 1960, in Kenosha, Wis., the son of Konstantyn and Delores Ann (Schenning) Klen. He graduated from Wilmot Union High School in Wilmot, Wis. Greg married the former Linda Shain on April 7, 1995, in Galatin, Tenn. He was employed as a machinist at Gordon-Watlow Plastics in Richmond, Ill. Greg enjoyed playing his guitar, listening and making music, and was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs.

Greg is survived by his wife, Linda Klen of Beloit; his mother, Delores Klen of Twin Lakes, Wis.; a sister, Kathryn Ann (Gary) Wright of Crystal Lake, Ill.; two brothers, David (Phyllis) Klen of Twin Lakes, Wis., Mike Klen of Viola, Wis.; three nephews, Steven, Danny, and Tim Klen; a great-niece, Tricia, and a great-nephew, Tyler. He was preceded in death by his father, Konstantyn Klen.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were handled by Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home, Beloit, Wis., where online condolences may be shared with the family at www.hansengravitt.com.




Lucille Marie Lichter

1919 - 2008

Lucille Marie Lichter of Kenosha, passed away Sunday, June 29, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, Wis.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 3, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Visitation on Thursday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until the time of mass. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or the Shalom Center would be appreciated.

Raymond H. Hanson

Raymond H. Hanson, 84, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully with his loving niece by his side, Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at his residence.

Stephen A. “Boomer” Devan, Jr.

1912 - 2008

Stephen A. "Boomer" Devan, Jr., 96, of Kenosha passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at St. Joseph's Home.

Born in Chicago on May 3, 1912, he was the son of the late Stephen and Zuzanna (Fulton) Devan, Sr.

Steve faithfully served our country during World War II with the 18th Army Airborne Division in the European Theatre. He began his service on March 14, 1941, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on Oct. 24, 1945. He received the European African Middle Eastern ribbon with three stars; and had fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

On July 18, 1945, Steve married Enola Louise Calhoun at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Stoughton, Wis. Sadly, Enola preceded him in death in 1993.

Employed as a mechanic with the American Motors Corporation for over 30 years, he retired on Feb. 28, 1976.

His numerous memberships were a testimony to his active life. Steve was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a former member of the Ushers Club. He was also a member of the F&AM Lodge #47; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #286; American Legion Post #21; Flints Golf League; Old Timers Golf League; and a lifetime member of the Band and Orchestra Boosters.

Left to remember him is a son, Dr. Douglas G. Devan of Somerset, Wis; his grandchildren, Melissa (Gregory) Thomas, Heather Devan both of Kenosha, and Dj Devan of Somerset; a great-grandson, Alexander John; and his best friend of over 50 years, Joseph Bella.

Along with his parents and his wife, Steve was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Bellinger, and Betty Dodge.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at 6 p.m. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3833 - 8th Ave. A Committal Service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, at 9 a.m. at Steve's gravesite in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation will be hosted on Tuesday, from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
