Dan Pavelich’s cartoons on health care last weekend were timely indeed. The previous Friday, my wife was informed by her employer that our health insurance (Blue Cross) was going up $150 per month. That brings our monthly payment to $700. With a $2,500 deductible, we’ll be paying $10,900 a year.
I’m frustrated by the Republicans, who seem to want to block health care reform at all costs. Oh sure, they take every opportunity to claim that they’re for it, yet they object to every single action that would lead to it.
We just had a Republican president for eight years, during six of those years his party controlled Congress. Where was their concern for our health then? The same place it is now. Nowhere.
