Taxpayers enable Wheatland school spending

The Wheatland School District gets a free pass again. I, and many of my fellow residents within the school district, do not have children that attend the school but we pay our equal share of taxes. The district has lost sight of “fiscal responsibility” long ago. That includes making a dedicated effort to inform all district residents of voting opportunities.

What is “necessary” and what is “desired” have gotten clouded by a lack of foresight and a sense of responsibility over the years. The overspending will only stop when the funds run out at the taxpayer level or the taxpayer responds at the polls.

I hope I can continue to live in this beautiful area for a long while. But as long as the taxpayers continue to enable the district to live outside of their means, I fear my “American Dream,” as well as that of my district neighbors, will be at grave risk.

Get informed. Become involved. Vote whenever and wherever the opportunity arises.
