I read that One Stop grocery store was in line to get a licence to sell hard liquor. I put a call in for our alderman. He was out at a football game. So I left a message with a very polite young man. Well, not that I really expected him to return my call. He has only returned three calls in the 21 years that we lived in his district.
I am glad that someone down at city hall or maybe a force from above, stopped the licence and turned it back to community. This area is getting bad. The person at One Stop told me how the people on the south side of Roosevelt Road are getting together to start a niehborhood watch program. Sounds like a place that needs to be able to sell hard liquor.
I think that someone at city hall should take a look at the saturation of alcohol selling establishments in this area .The area would start at, from the north, 63rd Street, the south, Roosevelt Road., the east 19th Avenue, the west, at 30th Avenue. In this area there are 12, four carry-outs, two of which sell hard liquor. One is also a bar, and that would leave eight other bars.
Someone at city hall should keep a eye on us inner city folks .Alderman Casey should be more in touch with the people he represents. And do you think maybe he could show up for city meetings more often?
