Millard boosts Red Devils at just the right moment
Entering its second-round game against Tremper in the WIAA Division-1 playoffs, the Bradford football team had scored 68 touchdowns this season in a variety of ways.
Amazingly, not one of those had come on a kickoff return.
That all changed on Saturday afternoon at Ameche Field thanks to Chris Millard.

After Tremper cut Bradford’s lead to 21-7 with 5 minutes, 33 seconds left in the first half, Millard gathered the ensuing kickoff by Matt Vecchitto at the 21. Barely touched, the 5-foot-6, 150-pound junior made a nice cut across the middle of the field en route to his first TD of the season.
“That was just a back-breaker,” Tremper coach Frank Matrise Jr. said about the 79-yard jaunt.
Bradford ended up scoring three touchdowns in the final 5:19 and coasted to a 56-20 victory.
“That’s one unit that we take a lot of pride in,” Bradford coach Jed Kennedy said about the kickoff team. “We haven’t been able to get one this year. When they scored and got a little bit of momentum back, Chris Millard took it right away from them.”
