Ex-Bradford coach impressed by Red Devils
Former Bradford football coach Harry Stoebe took in Saturday’s playoff game at Ameche Field and was asked how this year’s Red Devils team compared to some of the best squads in school history.
“Favorably,” said Stoebe, who played on the undefeated Big Eight Conference champion Kenosha High School teams in 1955 and ’56. “This team has tremendous speed. The (Big Nine) championship team I coached in 1986 might have been a little bigger, but I think this year could compete with any of them.”

Stoebe said he wasn’t surprised by the Red Devils’ lopsided victory over Tremper.
“Not at all,” Stoebe said. “I’ve been to about a half-dozen games this year and they just keep getting better and better. They run the triple-option so well.
“I hear Marquette is a little bigger and stronger in the line. That might be where Bradford might have some problems, between the tackles. Other than that, (Bradford) is an excellent team.”
