Aiello bests Galati for Junior Open crown
Vic Aiello shot a 74 on Saturday to best Matt Galati by two strokes for the Junior City Open title at Washington Park “Muni” Golf Course.
Aiello, 17, bettered Friday’s first-round 76 for the victorious mark of 150. First-round leader Galati, 17, shot a second-round 80 to fall two strokes off the pace at 152.
In the Boys 15-16 Division, Matt Christensen shot par on the first playoff hole to top Josh Galati for the title. Christensen and Josh Galati finished the two days tied at 158. Christensen shot a first-round 78 and an 80 on Saturday.
In the Boys 13-14 Division, Jonathan Rimkus cruised to a nine-shot victory by adding a round of 80 with his first-round 74 for a 154.
Kelly McCormick, 14, was second at 163.
In the Boys 11-12 Division, Ben Gordon followed up a 92 with an 85 for a nine-shot victory at 177.
Nick Zielinski won a playoff for second place after finishing tied with fellow 12-year-old Ty Jandrowski at 186.
There were only three rounds in the 70s on Saturday. Aiello, 17-year-old Scott Ratzburg (77) and 15-year-old Matt Bible (79).
Natalie Shatkins, 12, captured girls title with a 199 (102-97).
