When the 2009 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships came to an end on Friday in Las Vegas, Kenosha’s Lennie Boresch Jr. was a part of two national titles.

Teaming up with Gary Daroszewski, Ryan Lever, Dale Traber and Gus Yannaras, Boresch was the youngest member of his Milwaukee-based Linds Limited squad at 47 years old.

Competing in the Regular Division, they scored 3,449 to win the team division by 22 pins over Sack Toe of Sacramento, Calif. In the team all-events division, they had a winning score of 10,372. Turbo 2-N-1 Grips 1 of Madison was second with 10,317.

The team all-events score is the third-highest total since the inception of the category in 1947. The highest score is 10,425 rolled by Pollard’s Bowl of Versailles, Ind., at the 1996 event in Salt Lake City. The team score is the seventh-best in a division that dates to 1901.

Linds Limited recorded the winning scores on Easter Sunday in April. The tournament, which started on Feb. 21, drew 17,200 teams and nearly 90,000 bowlers.

“I’ve been bowling with these guys for a long time, so to hold on and win again is awesome,” Boresch said in a press release. “When you look back at the old magazines and see some of the teams from over the years, it gives you goose bumps to think that you’re part of that history.”

The five team members now have combined for 141 years of Open Championships experience and 20 titles on the tournament lanes. Boresch, who also rolled a perfect game at the 1989 event in Wichita, Kansas, now has three titles. He was a part of the team all-events crown in 2000.

Sparked by his second-career 300 at the Open Championships, Boresch finished second in Regular All-Events with 2,223.

Ron Vokes of Racine was first with a 2,321 total — the highest in 106 years of USBC Open Championships competition. He rolled 30 consecutive strikes, including a 300 game, on the way to an 857 singles series.

Boresch also teamed up with Steve Brinkman of Sussex to finish seventh in doubles with a 1,446. Stephen Padilla and Brenda Edwards of Mansfield, Texas, finished first with a 1,566. That topped the previous record of 1,554 set in 2007.

Honors n Mikey Hill assembled an 847 in the Thursday Summer O’ Fun Junior-Adult League at Guttormsen. The 21-year-old had games of 259, 299 and 289. It was his first 800 series as a sanctioned adult. n Katy Marescalco rolled her second perfect game of the year in the Grand Slam League Thursday at Sheridan. She also had games of 189 and 224 for a 713 series. The team of Eric Krista, Diane and Mark Brotz won the league title.n Steve Foote bowled a 299 game en route to a 706 series in the Wednesday Junior-Adult League at Sheridan.
