BRIEFS: Rake close first season 10-13

The Kenosha Rake saw their run in the American Legion Class A regional tournament come to an end late Friday night in an 11-1 loss to host Jefferson.

Earlier on Friday, the Rake defeated East Troy 7-4 to advance to the meeting with Jefferson.

Zach Dutter, Jared Millan and Blake Primmer combined to keep the East Troy offense at bay. Matt Kilby had two hits, while Myron Glass and Kyle Cable added a hit apiece.

Against Jefferson, Cable scored the Rake’s only run on a RBI squeeze bunt by James Gonzalez.

The team, composed of players from St. Joseph and Christian Life, finished its inaugural season 10-13. Ron F. Schuler was the team’s administrator and Jose Millan was the field manager.

Bradford girls tennis meeting Wednesday

There will be an organizational meeting for all Bradford girls who are interested in playing tennis this season 6 p.m. Wednesday in the school cafeteria.

At least one parent must attend the meeting. All forms will be handed out along with practice and match schedules. The season begins on Aug. 13.

Predators to hold tryouts for 2014

The Pleasant Prairie Predators are holding tryouts for the 2014 season Aug. 17-18 at the Kenosha Sports Complex.

Tryouts will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for U10 (under 10) through U15 (under 15) age groups.

Local golf courses have special for kids

Brighton Dale Links and Petrifying Springs Golf Course have a “Kids Play Free” program running until Wednesday.

For every paid adult, one child plays for free from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

Brighton Dale is also sponsoring the program on Sundays after 3 p.m.
