Central’s McCoy too much for Demons does it all for Central
Spencer McCoy recorded a hat trick to lead the Central soccer team to a 3-2 Southern Lakes Conference victory over Burlington on Thursday at Silver Lake Park.
“It was kind of the Spencer McCoy show tonight,” Central coach Jeremy Williams said about the senior forward who now leads the team with 12 goals
The Falcons (5-11-3, 2-7-2 SLC) took a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by McCoy in the 13th and 22nd minutes. Pete Anderson assisted on both goals.
Burlington scored two minutes into the second half on an own goal.
Central regained its two-goal advantage when McCoy scored his third goal off an assist from goalkeeper Matt LaMeer.
“Matt has been having some monster punts lately,” Williams said.
The Falcons played without Sean O’Neill (10 goals) who had to sit out after receiving a red card in his last match.
Wilmot suspended
Wilmot allowed three goals to host Lake Geneva Badger in the first five minutes when the match was suspended due to lightning.
The Southern Lakes Conference game will resume 4:30 p.m. Monday at Badger.
