Central’s Noonan captures SLC Golf Tournament
Central golfer Alex Noonan picked the perfect time for her best round of the season.
The junior shot an 85 to win medalist honors in the Southern Lakes Conference Tournament on Tuesday at Abbey Springs Golf Course in Lake Geneva.
Noonan’s performance helped the Falcons finish second in the eight-team meet with a 392. Union Grove won the tourney title with a 385 and captured the overall conference crown with 38 points — eight more than runner-up Central. Wilmot was third in the tourney with a 408 and placed third in the overall standings with 28 points.
Noonan’s round of 43-42 was highlighted by a birdie on the par-4 15th hole. She also parred five holes en route to winning by five strokes over Union Grove’s Bekah Jasperson, who was named the league’s Player of the Year.
Wilmot senior Kailee Wahler tied for fourth place with a 97 (47-50). Noonan and Wahler were both named first-team All-SLC.
Central’s Stephanie Battles tied for seventh with a 99 (51-48) and Sara Sattersten tied for ninth with a 101 (52-49). Both were named second-team All-SLC.
Brittany Rogness and Afton Swartz both shot 102 for the Panthers.
