Christian Life cruises pass Lake Country
Two quick goals by Sean Taylor sent the Christian Life soccer team to a 4-0 win over Lake Country Lutheran Monday in Kenosha.
Taylor scored in the second and eighth minutes and got help from Nick Svehla and Philippe Duplessey in pushing the Eagles (9-3) to their second consecutive shutout.
Svehla, with an assist from Tyler Tennyson, scored in the 16th minute to give CLS a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Dan Rozema scored off an assist by Duplessey in the 75th minute to close the scoring.
Christian Life outshot Lake Country, 13-4 with goalkeeper Jacob Rozema making two saves . Coach Alan Krass credited Bruce Kim, Austin Yarbrough, Drew Tennyson, Lucas Johnson and Caleb Town with strong performances.
Lancers loseSt. Joseph gave up a goal in the 58th minute, but that was enough to suffer a 1-0 loss at North Chicago.
“There was no pressure from our defense,” St. Joseph coach Peter Iliev said. “The goalie was off-balance and the ball went just under the crossbar.
“It was not a good game for us. We gave them plenty of room to play.”
St. Joseph (5-7-0) returns to Midwest Classic Conference action Wednesday when it hosts Martin Luther at Anderson Park.
