The Central boys basketball team was solid in the second and third quarters in a season-opening 58-41 non-conference victory over Christian Life on Tuesday night in Paddock Lake.
“Tonight was a good start for us,” Central coach Dave Sjong said. “I thought the kids that don’t have a lot of experience really stepped up tonight and contributed along with our seniors. It was nice for us to get on the floor against a team that is off to a good start and see us do things well. It’s an encourgaging start for us and something we can build on going into next week.”
With the score tied 10-10 after one quarter, the Falcons outscored the Eagles 13-4 in the second quarter and 21-10 in the third quarter to build a 20-point lead heading into the final eight minutes.
The Christian Life boys basketball team made sure its trip to the Bradley Center would be a victorious one.
Brian Rintelman hit a go-ahead basket late and Sam Porcaro made enough free throws as the Eagles beat Union Grove 66-64 in non-conference action Saturday as part of the Milwaukee Bucks Prep Series.
Christian Life boys basketball coach Steve Powell will have to deal with a new roster and a new league this season.
The revamped Eagles open tonight at Brookfield Academy in a Midwest Classic Conference game at Brookfield at 7:30.
